St Augustine’s looked to get back to winning ways after suffering a narrow defeat last time out. They managed to do this in a competitive game that saw them create a number of chances. Starting quickly from the off, Harry had a well-struck save by the confident Atlantic goalkeeper. However, there was constant pressure from St Augustine’s which led to Harry bursting through and striking the ball into the back of the net.
Some clever link-up play between Xavier and Archie B led to another chance for Harry which he duly tucked away. At the other end of the pitch, Archie H was proving more than adept at leading the defence in repelling anything that came his way. He led by example and communicated brilliantly with his team mates.
Soon after, Harry was able to complete his hat-trick with a calm finish to make the score 3-0. Just before half time, Atlantic were able to beat the high press that St Augustine’s were implementing, and scored a well-taken goal to make it 3-1.
After half time, St Augustine’s picked up where they left off. The constant pressure and quick runs forward led to a further goal from Harry, followed soon after by another from Archie B. Atlantic did not give in however, and they got the final goal of the game with a strong header that flew into the top corner, leaving the score at 5-2.
Overall, a very strong performance from St Augustine’s in a competitive game. We thank Atlantic for making the journey, and look forward to playing them again in the future.
