Year 5 attended the children’s lantern parade on Friday 5th December. The children used recyled plastic, willow sticks and tissue paper to make their lanterns, which took them a day and a half from start to finish. To begin with the children had set jobs to do and then they were able to create their own wings for the lantern.
The lantern parade was the first event in Weymouth's Victorian Shownight and started in Hope Square before moving along the old harbour into St Marys Street and finally New Bond Street to launch the “Lighting Up Ceremony” of the Town’s Christmas Lights with the Mayor of Weymouth & Portland.
Despite the cold weather everyone had a good time. Well done Year 5!
