Ukraine Aid Appeal

As a school community we have been working hard to liaise with others to plan the best way to help support the people of Ukraine at this difficult time.

We have decided to help support in the following ways:

We have liaised with colleagues from CAFOD (The Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) and working with them, have set up a Just Giving page, the link for which is here:

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/st-augustines-cafod-ukraine-appeal

By following this link, you will be able to donate to CAFOD directly who, working in partnership with CAFOD’s sister organization Caritas Ukraine and those Caritas agencies working in neighbouring countries, will ensure that the money gets directly to those that need it.

We will be continuing to pray for the people of Ukraine in our liturgies, masses, classes and during our Tuesday lunchtimes through a prayer group we have set up. The children at school are deeply spiritual and they value the time we give them to pray and to share their deep thoughts and concerns through reflective worship.

Through liaising with members of the local community, we have spoken to a local retailer who will be travelling to Ukraine on a regular basis to take supplies that are desperately needed. He is happy to take donations that we provide. Here is a list of the items needed at this time: Blankets, sleeping bags, thermal clothing, raincoats, new underwear for men , women and children, tents, sleeping mats, pillows, toothbrushes, toothpaste, nappies, wipes, torches and batteries, bed linen, sanitary products, powdered baby milk, instant food, canned food, energy bars etc.

We ask that if you are able to donate, you please give the donations to your child who can bring them to their classes and we will then collect and coordinate this part of the appeal. We will continue to accept donations until at least Easter and we will keep you informed as to whether we will continue collecting items after Easter.

We thank you in advance for your ongoing support.
