Year 4 & 5 Forest School

While most of the year groups are busy with swimming on Wednesday mornings, some lucky children from Years 4 and 5 have had the opportunity to follow the Forest Schools programme with Mrs Harrop.

This has included learning about the natural environment around the grounds of the school. They have had the chance to use a variety of tools including loppers, knives and saws. They have also had the chance to build dens, climb trees, make clay models and investigate the mud kitchen.

They also had the opportunity to build and light a fire (using a flint and steel – no matches here) and then they cooked and ate popcorn and toasted marshmallows.

Forest Schools encourages the children to use their own imaginations to find activities that they want to do within a controlled environment.

They have all agreed that they are thoroughly enjoying it and are looking forward to making and cooking flat breads soon.
